Marta Codeço, Ph.D.
Gould-Simpson Room 524
Summary:
Marta Codeço is the Manager of the Lowell Program in Economic Geology at the Lowell Institute for Mineral Resources (University of Arizona). She is also the Director and Promotional Manager of the Ore Deposits Hub and a Guest Researcher at GFZ Potsdam.
She earned a BSc in Geology and Natural Resources and an MSc in Economic Geology from the University of Lisbon, Portugal (2012, 2015) and a Ph.D. in Geochemistry from the University of Potsdam, Germany (2019). During her postdoctoral appointment at GFZ Potsdam, she taught Mineralogy and Resources at the University of Potsdam and advised undergrad and grad students.
Her research experience and interests center on the geochemistry of mineralizing systems, igneous and metamorphic petrology, mineral exploration, and links between magmatism and metallogeny. From the macro- to the micro-scale, Marta uses a combination of field relationships (including geological mapping and core logging), petrographic, high-resolution imaging and in-situ analytical techniques, whole rock lithogeochemistry, and numerical modeling of ore systems.
